Biden on Putin: He is a ‘worthy adversary’

President Joe Biden said he hopes to work with Vladimir Putin on areas where cooperation is in the interests of both the US and Russia.

The two men are meeting in Geneva on 16 June for the first time as presidents.

Speaking at a Nato summit in Belgium, Mr Biden described his previous encounter with Mr Putin, saying the Russian leader was “bright, tough… a worthy adversary”.

Mr Biden was also asked about his description of Mr Putin as a killer, which the Russian president had apparently laughed off.
