Tesla stock can’t go up forever and shares are finally falling in premarket trading Tuesday. Reports of recalls and Hertz-deal uncertainties are two reasons the stock might be down. A third reason, however, might be more responsible for the decline than the other two.

Tesla (ticker: TSLA) stock is down about 4.1% in premarket trading. S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average futures are both little changed.
